meeting date: 6 sep 2005 attending: Arpad Muranyi, Todd Westerhoff, Ian Dodd, Bob Ross, Barry Katz, Ken Willis, Sam Chitwood, Mike LaBonte ------------- AR: Mike will annotate one module, get comments, do the rest - Sent, need to discuss Arpad's feedback. AR: Todd and Mike start presentation - IBIS summit time slot allocated, presentation only begun. title: "An IBIS 4.1 Macro Library for Simulator-Independent Modeling" AR: Ken find out if Cadence can contribute another template - Yes, they can. ------------- DesignCon East IBIS summit. - Todd and Mike will be there. Bob and Arpad by phone. Comment format: - Will use p and n - Should try - T-line terminals should be COND1, COND2, etc. to avoid confusion with N1, N2, as node numbers. - Spell out what the example means in words. - Comments could have XML format. - Mike will send sample. - May be less readable to humans. Library discussion: - Should we have min(), max() etc. modules? - No, people need to learn the language. - Should we discourage people from writing equations at template level? - Less mappable if they do. - Should we write more building blocks? - Let's not try so hard to predict what people need. - Library needs to be stable before sim vendors will implement mapping. - This is why we want cadence templates. - Dynamic buffer C_comp scaling? - Would take a lot of additional ports if we made everything scalable. - Cadence hasn't seen the need. - Maybe V/I scaling. - How about waveform delay scaling? - Will simulators be able to do this? - Static is OK. - Need open-drain and open-source buffers? - Could have a parameter for model_type. - Should we have a larger number of modules with just the right ports, or a smaller number of more general purpose modules? - Since we are making people clone the buffer modules for each instance, we should make them minimal. - PWL table model? - Should table data be embedded? - yes. - Can we make a triggerable PWL? - Only maps to Kumar-SPICE so far. IBIS summit presentation: - Hopefully it can be in the morning, before many people leave. ------------- Next meeting: Tuesday September 27, 2005.
